Our History as Narrated by Our CEO—Randolph Loney
“I started as a farmer and then a supplier of fresh agricultural produce supplying mainly exporters and supermarkets until I accepted an offer to become a warehouse and packing house supervisor with an export and import company.
I was later promoted to export manager, responsible for all export operations. A decade and a half later, I decided to put my expertise and experience to better use by starting my own company and reaching more people. This was in 2008. This was the genesis of Balaclava Traders.
So Balaclava Traders was born out of a little town situated in St. Elizabeth (known as the Breadbasket parish in Jamaica) named Balaclava. This is also the resting place of my ancestors who grew up here, and I was also brought up here. I have had a personal connection with Balaclava, its people, the environment, and the food. That’s why I couldn’t choose another name for my company.
I believe that our customers benefit from our experience in selecting and delivering the best quality produce they can find anywhere and on time! No wonder our customers are willing to come from far and beyond to enjoy our goods and solutions.”
